unless Jordan Leopold, Robyn Regehr, Steve Montador, Andrew Ference, Mike Commodore, Rhett Warrener, Denis Gauthier, Toni Lydman are playing in front of them.

Is Kipper actually considering coming back next year or is he done and just hasn't announced it yet?

because its the dog days of summer...explain the difference between Ramo/Berra/Kiprusoff with respect to the potential of coming from overseas and being a legitimate starter in the NHL?

though I cant say anything about the teams they played for overseas, all three goalies displayed strong number before joining the NHL and it would take Kipper two years playing in SJ to get a chance with CGY...it could take 1-2 years for a guy like Ramo to take off as CGY improves its own roster...but they could have two gems here. Very hard to say.

Agreed Colin....very rarely does a goaltender really come into his own prior to his mid-twenties. Maybe a couple of freaks here or there but the transition to the NHL for goalies has got to be the hardest compared to all other positions.

Personally, I can't wait for preseason to see what these guys have. Definitely the biggest question mark for the team heading into next season. I don't expect their numbers to be very good next year playing in front of an AWFUL team. But all I am looking for is some potential!

Doesn't matter, he wants out. Get ready for a new wave of NMC & NTC's on the Oil. You guys didn't have many players that deserved any for the past how many years. I see 2 new ones this year & you guys haven even gotten out of the bottom 1/3 of the league yet.

I don't think that will be a problem if he's not wanted there.

I would just be over the moon to see us start with Ramo & Berra. That shows me total commitment to the rebuild. Joey Mac is a nice guy and all but he is strictly a replacement goalie when we have injuries.

Cammi has a limited no trade...meaning there is a list of teams they can trade him to without even being asked.

looking forward to seeing Ramo and Berra not gonna start the Kipper comparisons already. Pretty cool that both were invited to their respective olympic camps

Oh yah... You mean the *Wunder Kids*
It kills me that a group if kids on a team are labeled *Young Stars* when they haven't won anything... In fact one of the bottom teams in the league. Are you a star because you we're drafted high? Doesn't make sense.

Doubt it. MacT won't give them out to the kids, and a lot of Oilers players are on tryout contracts this year. Gagner earned his with years of service and hearing trade rumours every year, and Ference got his for stability as an old guy. Sutter was a fool to give so many out, and I can't remember if Feaster has given (m)any out.

Enjoying this blog Colin and here are my two cents worth. I think Ramo is likely to be the favourite right now for starter but I have this feeling that Berra could be the one to actually be the star and replace Kipper. Either way it would not surprise me and I would be over the moon too if Ramo and Berra manned the pipes in 2013-14.

Ramo is decent, but not a chance in hell that he's anywhere close to Kipper.

These two are just the stop gap before Gillies is ready. According the Calgary's assistant GM, Gillies is the Flames No.1 prospect period.

And honestly, Gillies out played every goalie at rookie camp by a wide margin.

Feaster has been way better than Sutter but he has given more than I think he has needed to give out. Babchuk & Sarich got some, God knows why but it didn't matter as Sarich wanted out anyway & nobody wanted Babchuk. Tanguay got a limited on as well but we still traded him. Really, people make a bigger deal than what they should, because when team & player are ready to part ways, well the motivation on both sides is there. However, you do get situations with the higher end players where its a pain in the crotch ie Iginla, Sundin. I will bet any Oiler fan money that Halls & Eberles next contracts will have a NTC, whether from the Oilers or from some other team.

Well Kipper couldn't get ice time with the Sharks when he came to Calgary so anything is possible... We would like to hope but expectations across the board are pretty low this year...
